We founded Adecoagro through the acquisition of 70,000 hectares of agricultural and livestock production in Argentina.
Our story
2002
2003-2004
We expanded into Uruguay and Brazil, adding farmland for crop production under the same sustainable operating model.
2005
We took our first steps into the Sugar, Ethanol, and Energy business with the acquisition of the Monte Alegre mill in the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil.
2006
We established our first sugarcane plantation and began construction of the Angélica mill in Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil, a new agricultural frontier.
2007
We expanded our rice business in Argentina by adding farmland, two processing mills, and the Molinos Ala brand for the domestic market. We also began construction of our first high-productivity freestall in the province of Santa Fe.
2008
We began operations at Angélica, our first mill within the sugar, ethanol, and energy project in Mato Grosso do Sul.
2009
We invested in increasing the power generation of our Monte Alegre mill from 2.5 to 18 megawatts.
2010
Sugar production began at the Angélica mill.
2011
We became listed on the New York Stock Exchange. At the same time, we began construction of a mill in Ivinhema (Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil), further consolidating our Sugar, Ethanol, and Energy cluster.
2012
We began the construction of our second freestall in Santa Fe, reaching an annual production of 95 million liters of high-quality milk.
2013
We opened our commercial offices in Uruguay. Our Ivinhema mill began operations, becoming another unit of our Sugar, Ethanol, and Energy project in Mato Grosso do Sul.
2014-2015
We strengthened our sugar production at the Ivinhema mill.
2016
We implemented the continuous harvest model at our mills in Mato Grosso do Sul.
2017
We inaugurated a biodigester to generate electricity at our freestalls. Together with Molinos Ala, we launched a line of healthy rice snacks for the Argentine market. The Angélica mill also increased its milling capacity.
2018
We opened a rice snack production plant in Pilar and a parboiled rice plant in Entre Ríos. Our third high-productivity freestall began operations. In Brazil, we exited the crops business and started organic sugar production at the Monte Alegre mill.
2019
We acquired two milk processing plants and incorporated the brands Las Tres Niñas, Apóstoles, and Angelita. We also acquired a peanut processing plant in Córdoba. In addition, our Ivinhema mill began producing biogas using concentrated vinasse.
2020-2021
We strengthened our dairy business with the construction of our fourth high-productivity freestall and expanded our product portfolio with new launches.
2022-2024
We expanded our rice operations in Argentina and Uruguay. In 2022, we incorporated three processing mills and two drying and storage facilities.
2025
We acquired Profertil, South America’s largest producer of granular urea, and incorporated its logistics terminals located in Bahía Blanca, Necochea, San Nicolás (Buenos Aires), and Puerto General San Martín (Santa Fe).
